Eugene B. “Bud” Heckber

Eugene B. Heckber March 18, 1917 - Nov. 28, 1997 SOUTH BEND — Eugene B. "Bud" Heckber, 80, of Ireland Road, died at 4:34 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, in his home. He retired from Torrington Bearing Division in 1980 after 42 years as a supervisor. He was born on March 16, 1917, in Fort Wayne, Ind., and has lived in South Bend, Ind., since 1927. On July 5, 1941, in Mishawaka, Ind., he married Joan Maculski, who survives.

He is also survived by his mother, Mabel (Hiser) Heckber of Mishawaka; a daughter, Linda A. Heckber of Annapolis, Md.; a son, Gregory Heckber of Hemdon, Va.; five grandchildren; and by a sister, Arlene Niles of Boyonet Point, Fla.

Bud was a member of St. Matthews Cathedral, the Engineers Club, attended Notre Dame and a former member of the Elkhart Lodge 235.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today in the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
