George S. Kass, 85, formerly of Brick Road, Granger, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2005, at 5:10 a.m.in St. Joseph Care Center.  He was born on January 6, 1920, in South Bend. On August 3, 1946, George married Jane L. Sabaj who passed away on November 3, 2005.  George is survived by daughter, Nancy S. Kass of South Bend; sisters, Pauline Grohowski of South Bend and Frances Vanwinkle of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Lawrence Kass of Ill; and many nieces and nephews.  He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger. George served in the United States Army during World War Il and was discharged in 1945. He retired in 1995 as a machinist from Wheelabrator Corporation.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 13, 2005, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at THE ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., and one hour prior to Mass at the church. A Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Osceola, Ind.  Memorial contributions may be made to Center for Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637 and St. Pius X Building Fund.
