COPELAND, Robert Charles - age 87, of Flint, died June 8, 2021. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, June 12, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, MI 48430 with Rev. Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473 where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Friday evening. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to American Cancer Society or the Gabriel Project at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Robert was born October 24, 1933 in Logansport, IN the son of Paul H. and Alice (Tucker) Copeland. He graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, IN and the University of Notre Dame. Robert married Jane Mahler on June 19, 1965 in Mishawaka, IN. He was a purchasing manager and plant accountant for Bundy Tubing retiring in 1996. He had resided in Coldwater for 35 years and most recently in Flushing and Flint. Robert was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Flint, St. Raphael Catholic Church in Englewood, FL and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, going to the gym and was an avid Notre Dame Football fan.
Surviving are: wife, Jane of Flint; five children, Paula Copeland of Kalamazoo, Michael P. (Trisha) Copeland of Oregon, Rev. Fr. Robert Copeland of Fenton, Marie Copeland of Flint, Martin (Adrian) Copeland of Allendale; four grandchildren, Franklin, David, Morgan and Reed Copeland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alice Copeland.
