Alethea Ann Evans

Alethea Ann Evans, 64, residing at 1432 Candlewood Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in her residence.

She was born on Aug. 8, 1933, in South Bend, Ind., and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

On Aug. 16, 1958, in South Bend, as Alethea Nyers, she married Donald Nelson Evans, who preceded her in death on July 17, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Yolanda Nyers; and by a sister, Yolanda Smith.

She is survived by a daughter, Andrea Gordon of Mishawaka; a son, Donald ''Skip'' Evans, Jr., of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Heather Mae and Collin Michael; a sister, Frances Miller of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and by three brothers, Stephen Nyers, III, of Illinois, Charles Nyers and Leslie Nyers, both of South Bend.

Mrs. Evans was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post #1167, Women of the Moose #1057, and served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Services for Mrs. Evans will be at 11 a.m on Friday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.

Contributions in memory of Mrs. Evans may be made to V.F.W. Post 1167 or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
