Helen Marie Yandl

Helen M. Yandl

Sept. 3, 1933 - Apr. 26, 2013
SOUTH BEND - Helen M. Yandl, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at South Bend Memorial Hospital of complications from pneumonia. She was 79. Helen was a life long resident of the Michiana area, living in South Bend, Niles, and then returning to South Bend permanently 18 years ago. Helen attended Oliver Grade School.

She graduated from Riley High School where she was a member of the band and played the clarinet.

Helen aspired to be a teacher. However, her career path led her to join the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company from which she retired after many years of service. Helen was an outgoing and independent woman with a zest for life. She was a traveler and vacationed to much of the U.S. in her youth and to the Bahamas and Jamaica with friends upon retirement. Helen enjoyed the company of friends and family and held get-togethers but liked most to sit down for some conversation over dinner and coffee at one of her many favorite restaurants.

Helen accepted Jehovah into her heart and found her true calling by doing His work on the Earth. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her aspirations of teaching came to fruition through her many Bible Study students and her Pioneering work.

Helen was preceded in death by her mother Helen (Nemeth) Yandl, her father, John Yandl, and brother Ronald Yandl.

Left to cherish her memory is a brother John H. (Ann) Yandl Sr. of Osceola, two sisters Delores A. Cholasinski of South Bend and Debra Yandl of Indianapolis; a nephew Ryan Yandl of South Bend and many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Helen's wishes for no services will be honored, as will cremation. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Helen's name to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Pet Refuge, or Meals on Wheels. A Life well lived, Helen M. Yandl. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. To leave an online condolence visit our website www.zahoran.com, or our Facebook page, Zahoran Funeral Home.
