Allen A. Burdeen, 74, was born on Oct. 8, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Della (nee Schoenstadt) and Maurice Burdeen. He moved to South Bend in his early teens. He graduated from Riley High School in 1949 and attended Indiana University. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953.

He was married on April 4, 1954, to the former Marianne Opperman. He is survived by his wife, Marianne; two sons, David of Chicago and Jeffery of Irving, Texas; a daughter, Karen (David) Oppenheim of Vernon Hills, Ill.; and by two granddaughters, Hannah and Maya.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, Henry.

Allen was a former owner of Crystal Cleaners and worked in sales and advertising for many years. He was a member of Temple Beth-El and B'nai B'rith.

Funeral services for Allen will be at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery today, April 26, at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be forwarded to the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley or to the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
