Carol A. (O'Parker) Dynes

Feb. 17, 1959 - Aug. 25, 2006
IN MEMORIAM SOUTH BEND - It has been two years since Carol Ann (O'Parker) Dynes, formerly of South Bend, passed away in her home in Berne, IN, after a courageous battle with cancer. She is now in heaven with the angels. Carol was born in Detroit, MI, on February 17, 1959, to the late Earl O'Parker Sr. and Helen O'Parker.

She spent most of her childhood in South Bend, having moved here with her family in 1967. She was the youngest of five children. She went to St. Matthew's Grade School and graduated from Riley High School in South Bend in 1977.

She had moved to Berne in 1983. Survivors include her three sons, Andrew, Joseph, and Daniel; her mother, Mrs. Helen O'Parker of South Bend; two sisters, Mrs. Patricia (Frank) Bezi of Osceola, IN, and Mrs. Suzanne (Larry) Cadieux of South Bend; two brothers, Earl O'Parker Jr. and Kurt O'Parker, also of South Bend; several nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and a grandniece.

Carol was an artist who showed her talent at an early age. She was awarded two coveted gold keys in the National Scholastic High School Art Competition. She had a great reputation as an artist in later years, too. Some of her work has been exhibited in galleries and shops in Indiana and nationally. Her work was chosen for Ducks Unlimited (a nationwide ecology group) in 1993. The prints are prized possessions by many. Carol worked for RACO and South Bend Lathe in South Bend. She was a featured employee on national TV in a documentary about employee-owned companies for South Bend Lathe in the 70s. In Berne she worked for a farm equipment company while raising a family and doing artwork.

She also found time to earn an engineering degree with honors at Indiana-Purdue University, Fort Wayne. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest, even when she was ill, traveling around the country, making today count, or just spending time in Berne with her sons. Family Hospice of Berne provided wonderful care in her final days.
