Lamar W. Lawrence, 84, of East Woodside, South Bend, Ind., died at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, in his residence. He was born on Sept. 7, 1913, in South Bend. He had lived in South Bend all his life. Lamar retired in 1976 from Otis Elevator as the local representative after 35 years of service.

On April 23. 1938, in San Francisco, Calif., he married Frances Kemper, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Marylou Pumroy of Union Mills. Ind.; a son, Terry B. Lawrence of Kalamazoo. Mich.; a sister. Eleanor Petty of South Bend; a brother. Wayne Lawrence of Leola. Pa.; six grandchildren. Larry Pumroy. Andy Pumroy, Leah Hayes. Autumn Pumroy. James Lawrence and Ann Foster; two great-grandchildren, Sierra Lawrence and Ryan Lawrence; and by his mother-in-law, Cora Betz of South Bend.

He was preceded in death by a son. Michael Lawrence in 1971.

Lamar was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, American Turners and Elks Lodge 235 BPOE

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Forest C, Hay Funeral Home 435 S Ironwood Drive. South Bend, with Rev Ross Cook officiating. There wit! be no visitation. MemoriaI contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to Grace United Methodist Church
