Forest W. "Woody" Shirk

Forest W. "Woody" Shirk, 73, of Battle Creek, formerly of South Bend, died Wednesday morning in his home after an illness. Mr. Shirk was employed for 22 years by the former Associates Investment Co., where he was a credit collection manager. He was born Aug. 9, 1912, in South Bend, and moved to Battle Creek in 1959.

On Nov. 25, 1937, he married the former Martha June Finch, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Bruce T. and Thomas F., both of Battle Creek; five grandchildren; and a great-grand-child.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Fri-day in Farley-Estes Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Cremation will take place. There will be no visitation. Mr. Shirk was a former member of the South Bend Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge of Marshall, Mich. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice Care, in care of the funeral home.
