Virgil Gayland Chambers

Virgil Gayland Chambers went home to be with his Lord on June 17th, 2011. He spent 96 years serving God and loving others. Virgil and his wife Shirley, were returning from a visit to Buck's Lake, when his vehicle went out of control on Highway 70 near Pulga.

Virgil was born in Indiana on February 12th, 1915 to Howard and Estella Chambers. He was a carpenter by trade, but was gifted in many areas. Virgil was very instrumental in the building of Magalia Community Church and was primarily responsible in the remodeling of the historic Chapel on the church property. To this day the chapel is still used for weddings, funerals and Sunday church services. Virgil sailed his boat for many years and was also an avid cross country skier even in his later years, he loved to hike and enjoy the beauty of God's creation. He taught his children to hike and fish and enjoy the outdoors. Virgil loved his Creator and serving others. He loved the Holy Bible and thoroughly enjoyed discussing it with others.

Virgil is survived by his wife Shirley, a daughter Lana Diane Richards, a son Roger Chambers, all of Paradise, a brother Jerry Chambers of Landers, California, a granddaughter Kim Ott from Pleasanton, Ca. and 2 great grandchildren. We miss him.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 16, 2011 at 1 P.M. at the Magalia Community Church. Published in Paradise Post from July 12 to August 12, 2011.
