Mary E (Fairbanks) Gilmore
ANDERSON, Ind.--Mary Eillien Gilmore, 73, 1022 W. 5th St., died Sunday in St. John's Continuing Care Center.
She was born in South Bend and moved to Anderson 54 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school classed for more than 50 years and was youth director for more than 35 years. She had been a lay leader at the church for 2 years.
She was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union and was a publicist-author of poems and short stories.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Charles E. Gilmore; two daughters, Ruth Lyn Paha, Normal, Ill., and Laura May Shadoin, Muncie; a son, Charles H. Gilmore, Anderson; a sister, Blanch Andreck, South Bend; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Otterbein United Methodist Church, with Rev. Frank Cramer officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Calling is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Guilkey & Herider Mortuary.
