Evelyn M. (Gerard) Slates

CASSOPOLIS — Mrs. Evelyn M. Slates, 60, Route 5, Howell Point, Cassopolis, died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday in South Bend Memorial hospital, following a long illness. She was born Oct. 19, 1915, in South Bend and had been office manager of Haden-Beardslee Ford Inc., Cassopolis. Mrs. Slates had resided in the area since 1941, coming from South Bend.

Her husband, Leland, preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1966.

Surviving are a son, Robert L. Slates, Niles; a brother, Donald Gerard, Torrance, Calif.

Mrs. Slates was a member of Cassopolis United Methodist church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Con-nelly-Noble funeral home, Cassopolis, where friends may call after 12 noon Sunday. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery, Niles. Memorials may be made to the church choir fund.
