SOUTH BEND — Ernest H. “Ernie” Hamilton, 78, of Riverside Drive, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday in his home after an illness. Mr. Hamilton retired in 1975 from Energy Controls of Bendix Corp. as a supervisor after 31 years of service. He was born Dec. 7, 1914, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.
On June 29, 1940, in South Bend, he married Ethel F. Boberg. She survives with a son, Ron of Granger, a granddaughter; and a sister, Ruth Heighway of Mentone.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 294, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, and Elks Lodge 235.
Services will be at noon Thursday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Entombment will be in Riverview Mausoleum. Friends may call one hour before services Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
