Dale B. Johnson
March 3, 1915 - March 20, 2012
SOUTH BEND - Dale B. Johnson, 97, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Dale was born on March 3, 1915, to the late Clyde E. and Pearl M. (Brownbridge) Johnson, and remained a lifelong area resident. Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Opal (Hutson), and his wife of 18 years, Hallie (Clampitt); daughter, Barbara Kimberling; brother, Robert Johnson; and sister, Ruth Johnson.
Dale is survived by his children, Beverly (Paul) Garcia, Bonnie (Gerald) Larsen, James (Shirley) Johnson and David Johnson. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and by a brother, Edward Johnson.
Dale graduated from Riley High School and Acme Tool & Design.
He was a charter member of Community Baptist Church. Dale was the oldest living member of Gideon's International of Indiana, and was one of the founders of the Christian Booksellers Association. Dale worked for Reese Products Tool & Die Design and owned and operated the Bible Book Center. He also worked for Word Audio Record Library Program, Alexander Hamilton Life and AFLAC agencies. He retired in 1996. Dale will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 26, 2012, at Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami Street, South Bend. The family will greet family and friends from 4:00 - 7:00 PM today, March 25, 2012, in the Palmer Funeral Home - River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, as well as one hour prior to services in church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Community Baptist School or to Gideon's International, PO Box 2556, South Bend, IN 46680-2556.
