Margery Louise (Nelson) Soderberg

March 12, 1916 — Feb. 1, 2005 

Margery L. Soderberg, 88, of East Wayne Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, in St. Paul's Retirement Community. Mrs. Soderberg was born March 12, 1916, in LaPorte, Ind., to the late Frank and Ida (Erickson) Soderberg and had lived in the South Bend area most of her life.

On Oct. 5, 1940, in South Bend, as Margery L. Nelson, she married Edgar N. Soderberg, who preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1972. She is survived by three sons, Donald (Mary Ellen) Soderberg of Bloomington, III., Robert (Margel) Soderberg of Granger, Ind., and William (Peggy) Soderberg of South Bend; six grandchildren, Scott, Paul, Wendy, Kristine, Jaimie (Rachel), and John Soderberg; two great-grand-children; and one sister, Thelma Mast of Tavares, Fla.

Mrs. Soderberg retired as a travel agent for Redden Travel in South Bend. She loved to travel, especially in the west including Yellowstone National Park. She also enjoyed sewing and being a mother and grandmother and valued the times with her family. She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Martha Circle. She also volunteered her time at the Budget Corner.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Road, with Rev. David Doane officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the time of service on Monday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46628. Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, is handling arrangements.
