Vera P. (Holmes) Danch

SOUTH BEND - Vera P. Danch, 74, of 804 Ridgedale Road, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday in her home after an illness. Mrs. Danch was the co-owner of 700 Bar from 1945 to 1977. She was born Dec. 30, 1919, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.
On May 11, 1943, in Alexandria, La., as Vera Holmes, she married Alfred J. Danch. He died April 11, 1972. She is survived by three daughters, Susan Harris and Debra Johnson, both of South Bend, and Lynn Stewart of Niles; a son, John of South Bend; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Sutherland of Arlington Heights, Ill. She was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral and St. Anthony's Ladies Auxiliary.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Zahoran Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
