SOUTH BEND — Robert W Keppler, 73, of 25th Street, died at 10440 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Keppler retired in 1985 from Basic Machine Inc. He was born Dec. 3, 1919, in South Bend and lived here most of his life.

On Nov. 10, 1946, in South Bend, he married Carol Leiser. She survives with two daughters, Carolyn McCarthy of Grayslake, Ill., Patricia Fenters of Mishawaka; three sons, Wayne A, Jon K., and Rob E., all of South Bend; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Josie Keppler and Nora Rupert, both of South Bend, and Lois Schmitt of Granger, and a brother, Harry of South Bend.

He was a veteran of World War II and was assistant financial secretary of the First Baptist Church.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the church. Cremation will take place, with burial in Ferrisville Cemetery, Mishawaka. There will be no visitation. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
