SOUTH BEND - Mary Pinter, 91, former resident of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Saturday, April 9, 2011. Mary was born in South Bend, IN, on March 29, 1920, to George and Florence Stape.

She graduated from Riley High School in 1938, and on June 28, 1943, she married Rudolph Pinter, who passed away in 2001. He was a POW in WW II, and retired from the South Bend Fire Department.

Mary loved to bowl and did so until three years ago. She and Rudy enjoyed travelling and square dancing. Mary retired from the South Bend County Clerk's Office in 1972. Shortly after, they moved to Florida where she resided for 39 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith (Tad) Allen of Rockledge, FL, and Susan Jones of Melbourne, FL; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, whom she adored. Also surviving Mary is her only sister, Genevieve (James) Summersgill.

Mary was a wonderful person, loved by all, and she will be missed very much. She was a member of Ascension Catholic Church.

Friends may call between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m. today, April 11, 2011, in Florida Memorial Funeral Home, Rockledge, FL, and a funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 12th, at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VITAS Hospice, 4450 W. Eau Gallie Blvd., Suite 250, Melbourne, FL 32901.
