Olive Lucille Lieberman Oct. 4, 1920 - July 10, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Olive Lucille (Mitzie) Lieberman, age 93, of Carlsbad, CA, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, passed away peacefully in her home on July 10, 2014. Born October 4, 1920, in Elkhart, IN, to the late Hazel and Grover Metzger,

Mrs. Lieberman resided in South Bend and graduated from JW Riley High School, Purdue University and the Mayo Clinic. She served in the U.S. Army as a physical therapist during WW II and was married in New Orleans to David Lieberman on July 10, 1943, while stationed at Camp Harahan, prior to both being deployed to serve in Europe. She continued her physical therapy career in civilian life, specializing in children with disabilities for the South Bend Community School Corporation for 20 years while also working many summers at Camp Millhouse.

She retired in 1983 and later moved to Carlsbad, CA, where she resided with her husband Dave, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Corinne Suzanne Blanco (Robert) of Carlsbad, CA, Steven David Lieberman (Victoria) of Oceanside, CA, Dennis Alan Lieberman (Deborah) of Dayton, OH, and Richard Jay Lieberman (Susanne) of Cincinnati, OH. Grandchildren include Garry and Thomas Beckett; Robin Lieberman; David and Daniel Lieberman; and Shannon and Nathan Lieberman. Great-grandchildren include Kyle, Korey, Thomas, Ambre and Tiffany Beckett and Victoria LaFree-Beckett. Great-great-grandchildren include Liam and Leighton Brown.

Military Funeral Honors will be held at 0930 PDT at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA, on Monday, July 21, 2014.
