Robert Louis “Bob” Rogers

Graveside Services for Robert "Bob" Rogers have been scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, December 9, 2011 at the National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.

Robert "Bob" Rogers was born September 13, 1920 in South Bend, Indiana the son of Clinton and Lillian (Beissell) Rogers. Bob died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Forest Hills Health Care in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was 91 years of age.

Bob was a graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana. He attended two years at Rutgers University in New Jersey. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II in Europe and was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.

He married the former Della Louise King on February 23, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Della preceded him in death on November 18, 2011.

Bob was a computer programmer for Tulsa County and earlier was at North American Rockwell where he worked on the Apollo 11 Moon Shot Mission. He enjoyed gardening and could grow anything. He was a member of the Nature Conservancy and contributed to numerous charities. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 6465 S. Yale, # 206, Tulsa, OK 74136.

He is survived by two daughters; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by grandson, Brian Sexton,two brothers, James Clinton and Donald, and sister, Rosemary.
