Eugene R. Talcott, Sr.

Eugene R. Talcott, Sr, 76, formerly of Kern Road, died Friday at St. Joseph's Medical Center. He was a supervisor in the Aerospace Division of Bendix and retired in 1986 after 46 years of service. He was born July 23, 1920 in South Bend, and was a lifetime area resident. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the European Theatre, and was a member of American Legion Post 50. Eugene, his father and two brothers joined Lodge 45, F&AM together in 1945. In 1946, he received his 32nd degree and was a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite of St. Joseph Valley. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, a former member of the South Bend Moose Lodge and also a member of the Avalon Grotto.

He was a 1938 graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School.

On June 29, .1941, he married Betty J. Fiedler. He is survived by a daughter, Pamela S. Winn of South Bend; two sons, Eugene R. "Rocky" Talcott of Plymouth and Scott A. Talcott of South Bend; three grandchildren, Shannon Talcott, Aaron Talcott and Amanda Winn; a brother, Arthur S. Talcott and Betty Talcott-Cravens.

A brother, Harrison W. Talcott preceded him in death.

Services will be Monday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. at Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. John Railton officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. A masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Rescue Mission.
