Eleanor G. (Gervais) Tengelitsch
October 19, 1921 ~ July 4, 2022 (age 100)
Eleanor G. Tengelitsch, 100, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2022 at Grand Emerald Place, South Bend, IN.
She was born on October 19, 1921 to the late Edward Earl and Rosana (Chayie) Gervais, Calumet, MI, and was a lifelong South Bend resident. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Tengelitsch; son, Albert E. Tengelitsch, Sr.; grandson, David J. Tengelitsch; two sisters, Virginia Waggoner and Marie Gervais an infant; two brothers, Harold J. Gervais and Earl G. Gervais; five sisters-in-law, Marciel Gervais Porch; Ellie Gervais; Alma Tengelitsch; Luella Tengelitsch; Jane Gervais; and three brothers-in-law, Charles Waggoner; Bob and Bill Tengelitsch.
Eleanor graduated from Riley High School, South Bend 1939. She was co-owner of Alten Studio with her husband Albert from 1950 -1980.
On June 28, 1941, as Eleanor G. Gervais, she married Albert F. Tengelitsch at St. Matthew Catholic Church, South Bend, IN. Albert passed away January 23, 2006.
Eleanor is survived by her two daughters, Patricia A. (Revis) Morton, Abingdon, VA; Nancy J. (William) Foreman, South Bend, IN; son, John J. (Betty) Tengelitsch, Buchanan, MI; 8 grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; and 6 generations of great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond A. Gervais, Mishawaka, IN.
Eleanor loved to fish, garden, and sew. She loved to spend time with family and spent a lot of time at school outings with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2022 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a rosary will be prayed at 6:45 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend, IN. Burial following at Highland Cemetery.
