Harley Dean “Bud” Tranter

Harley Dean "Bud" Tranter, 70, of Apple Ridge Court, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3:15., Tuesday, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, after an illness.

Mr. Tranter was born July 25, 1926, in South Bend, to Harley and Lisette Tranter. He lived in the South Bend area all of his life, retiring from the Allied Signal Corporation of South Bend as a Process Engineer in 1991, after 20 years.

On Sept. 13, 1947, he married Lois Markham in South Bend. Surviving with his wife, Lois, is a daughter, Sandra Cousins of Granger, Ind; a son, Gary Tranter of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Brian Tranter and Jon Tranter, both of Mishawaka, Jenne Cousins and Jamye Cousins, both of Granger, and Danae Fanti of New Jersey; and a sister, Maxine James of Phoenix, Ariz.

Mr. Tranter was a member of the Barber Shop Singers of America, The Pioneer Car Club, The Bendix Retirees Management Club and the B.P.O.E. Lodge 235 of South Bend.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., today, at the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main, Mishawaka, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Rev. Don L. Shanks of the Faith United Methodist Church,South Bend, will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
