Lisa Marie Merrill
May 6, 1960 ~ February 6, 2024 63 Years Old
Lisa Marie Merrill passed away Feb 6, 2024 at Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on May 6, 1960, in Wichita Falls, TX, to Marie “Theresa” and Douglas Merrill. She was preceded in death by her father, step-father, William (Bill) Platner, niece, Tonya Merrill, and nephew Daniel Barnhart.
The family later moved to South Bend and Lisa attended Brown Elementary School and Muessel Jr. High. She graduated from Riley High School in 1978. Lisa worked at Kroger for many years, first in the produce department and then in the front office and at the cash registers. If your favorite spot to dine out is Hani Yori, you were most likely greeted and seated by Lisa. She was the hostess with the beautiful smile, and warm friendly disposition. Her favorite things in life were music, traveling, reading a good romance novel, dining out and of course shopping! She was quite the fashion queen, and her family often referred to her as “Miss Hollywood”. She was always dressed to impress. If Lisa had the day off work, and it was summertime, you could usually find her in the sun somewhere or at the beach.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother Marie “Theresa” Platner and her three siblings, Vicky Merrill of South Bend, Doug Merrill of St. Paul, MN, Stephanie (Mike) Stormeon and Melissa Merrill of South Bend. Lisa loved and adored her 8 nieces and 12 nephews and loved to spoil them with special holiday and birthday gifts. She also leaves behind her favorite uncle, Jimmy Christenberry of Texas.
Per Lisa’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral services will be held. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lisa with a time of remembrance and brunch buffet at Hani Yori’s on Sunday, March 3rd at 12:30 P.M.
