SOUTH BEND– Wilhelm J. Forstinger, 62, passed away at 2:15pm Saturday, March 4, 2023 in Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Wilhelm was born on March 15, 1960 in Vienna, Austria to Wilhelm and Elizabeth (Gartner) Forstinger. Wilhelm “Willi” was employed by General Stamping & Metalworks for over 20 years. He was a hard worker displaying outstanding work ethic. Providing for his family and giving generously in so many ways.Willi meant so much, to so many people. A long loved partner. A very present & loving father and Papa. A brother and cousin who stayed connected because family was important. A crazy-fun uncle and dear friend to so many. Willi enjoyed days at the lake, day fishing, grilling, long bike rides, cruising listening to “his” music. From car shows to classic car drive-ins. He showed his passion for cars. NASCAR and naps on Sundays. Goodwill and antique shopping during the week when he got off of work. Attending church every Sunday he could. Spending time with his kids and grandkids. We will miss a great man, full of jokes and witty comebacks, his laugh, his smile, and most of all his hugs.
He is survived by a daughter Ilona (Lynn) Lehman, a son Wilhelm (Lea) Forstinger, girlfriend Daniela Patrascu, 7 grandchildren Alyssa, Mark, Emma, Naiden, Liam, Mina, and Mahkia, 2 sisters Brigitte Forstinger and Marianne (Gordon) Stock, 3 brothers Peter (Grete) Lotz, Hans (Margit) Gartner, and Helmut (Mary) Forstinger and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Wilhelm will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 2-6 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Monday, March 13th in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
