Beverly Jean (Whitinger) Kuespert

November 11, 1940 ~ October 22, 2019            (age 78)

Beverly Jean Kuespert (née Whitinger), 78, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2019 at her home at the Residences at Vantage Point in Columbia, Maryland.

Bev was born in South Bend, Indiana on November 11, 1940 to Raymond and Lillian Whitinger.  She grew up in South Bend, graduating from James Whitcomb Riley High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Indiana University at Bloomington.  In 1963, she married her soulmate, Edward Kuespert, also of Indiana.

After their marriage, Bev and Ed lived briefly in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Maryland, first to Mount Rainier and then to Rockville.  In 1980, they moved to Dorsey Hall in Columbia, Maryland where they lived for 39 years.  In early 2019, they moved to the Residences at Vantage Point, a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Columbia.

Throughout her entire life, Bev focused on service and helping those in need.  Before raising her children, she worked 3 years as an adoption social worker.  When she returned to the workforce, she worked 15 years as a criminal intelligence research analyst for Maryland State Police and received awards from the FBI and other agencies upon her retirement.  Bev volunteered at many organizations over the years.  Notably, she taught a client of The ARC of Howard County to read.

Bev enjoyed spending time outside in the fresh air and was the consummate hostess.  She was active in the Bethany United Methodist Church.  Most of all, Bev treasured her family.  She was a wonderful wife, a caring mother, and an adoring Grammy.

Bev is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Edward Kuespert; her sister Donna Clark; three children, Daniel Kuespert and his wife Martha, Cathy Oldham and her husband Chris, and Susanna Aldridge and her husband Tim; and four grandchildren, Beth Kuespert, Spencer Aldridge, Isaac Oldham, and Ashley Aldridge.
