Wayne R. Anderson

Wayne R. Anderson, 92, of Scipio, passed away at 7:14 p.m., on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the Belmont in Columbus.

A service will be held at a later date. Cremation was chosen. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on March 4, 1930, in South Bend, Wayne was the loving son of David and Bessie (Gustafson) Anderson. He was united in marriage to Mildred Richardson on December 16, 1989. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2012.

After high school, Wayne served his country proudly in the US Army from 1951 ~ 1953 during the Korean War. He retired from the South Bend US Postal Service. Wayne enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends.

Wayne will be missed by, stepchildren, Delmar (Barb) Perry, and Paula (Eric) Pyers; sister, Betty Barnhart; grandchildren, Jon (Cindy) Perry, Brian Pyers, and Helen (Shannon) Carter; great grandchildren, Jordan Perry, Bailey, and Taylor Carter, and Gavin, Layla, Alex, and Isabel Pyers; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Bessie Anderson; wife, Mildred Anderson; stepson, Bruce Perry; siblings, Ruth, Stanley, Fred, Paul, Robert, and David Jr.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue or Our Hospice of Jennings County.
