Larry Newman Aug. 23, 1940 - Sept. 26, 2015 NILES - Larry G. Newman, 75, residing in Niles, MI passed away at 12:31 AM Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana after a brief illness.

Larry was born on August 23, 1940 in Mishawaka, IN to Harold R. and Reatha (Stoner) Newman and lived most his life in this area. On February 15, 1968 in South Bend, IN he married Vicki (Mickiewicz) Newman, who survives. Along with his loving wife, Vicki, Larry is also survived by his daughter, Traci Newman of South Bend; grandson, Sammy Ladyga; brother-in-law, Bryan (Greg Beelaert) Barr of South Bend; sister-in-law, Penny Mickiewicz of Cassopolis, MI; three nephews, Justin Barr of South Bend, Joseph (Lynn) Mickiewicz of Niles, and David Mickiewicz of Cassopolis; two great-nephews, Jordan Mickiewicz and Ty Mickiewicz both of Niles; several members of the Stoner family; special friends, Boyd and Sharon Nutting; and cousins, Susie and Tony Hale. Larry was preceded in death by his mother and father; infant sister, Judy Newman; and his brother-in-law, Edward Mickiewicz.

Larry graduated from Riley High School, South Bend Class of 1958 and attended Ball State University. He proudly served in the United States Army, and was a member of the U.S. Army Special Projects TX at Rocky Mountain Arsenal, Denver, CO. Larry retired from Walsh & Kelly Construction Co., previously worked for Reith-Riley and was a member of Teamster Local #364. He was also a member of American Legion Post 303.

A celebration of Larry's life will be announced at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, South Bend is assisting the family with arrangements.
