Katherine “Kathy” M. (Voros) Scalise, 56, of Shipshewana, IN was called to Heaven on January 30, 2023. Shortly thereafter, Daniel “Danny” F. Scalise, 60, of Shipshewana, IN was also called to Heaven on January 31, 2023. Friends since high school, Kathy and Danny were united in marriage on April 27, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bristol, IN. 

Kathy and Danny enjoyed living on Stone Lake for nearly 18 years. They both took great pride in cultivating their beautiful garden, as Kathy was the harvester and Danny was the master chef. They both loved the activities that came with living on the lake such as fishing off the pier and teaching their daughter, Olivia, how to catch a prize winning 21” catfish, although Danny had to take it off the hook. Music was a favorite pastime and it wasn’t uncommon to walk by their home and hear the songs of artists like Neil Young and The Beatles. Kathy was a wonderful wife and mother, and was at her happiest when taking care of her family, including her cats, Esme, Momma Kitty and Baby. Danny was a loving husband and father who didn’t miss an opportunity to share a good old Dad joke such as “I don’t want a pickle, I just want to ride my motorsickle.” 

Kathy was born on April 18, 1966 in South Bend, IN to the late Louis W. and Kathleen A. (Williams) Voros. She attended James Whitcomb Riley High School. For the last several years, Kathy was an engineering office assistant at a consulting engineering firm in Goshen, IN. 

Danny was born on August 1, 1962 in Erie, PA to J. Lawrence “Larry” and Julianne (Kuhner) Scalise. He attended Mishawaka Marian High School. Upon graduation, he attended ITT in Fort Wayne, IN and earned an associates degree in architectural drafting. For the last three decades, Danny was a self-employed draftsman at his own company, DFS Enterprises. 

Danny and Kathy will be greatly missed by their many family members and friends. They are survived by their loving daughter, Olivia L. Voros. 

Kathy is survived by two brothers, David Voros, Christopher (Jennifer) Voros, sister Rosemary (Mark) Vanderberg, sister-in-law, Pam Bowers, and her nieces and nephews: Eva, Eli, Anna, Isabella, Kevin, Holly and Heather. 

Danny is survived by his parents, brother Christopher Scalise, sister Anne (Brett) Wolfe and his nephews: Joey, Drew, Jack and Brady. 

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents. 

Danny is preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Scalise. 

Family and friends will gather on Monday, February 6 for a visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with a funeral Mass at 11:00am. St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church is located at 1405 N. Main St. Elkhart, IN. The Reverend Levi Nkwocha will officiate. Burial of their cremated remains will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery.
