Dorothy Lorraine Zillmer

Dorothy Lorraine "Dot" Zillmer, 87, of South Bend, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, September 7, in St. Paul's Retirement Community, South Bend.

She was born on October 18, 1918, in South Bend, to the late Lizetta (Blechschmidt) and Herbert Zillmer. A brother, Harold Zillmer, also preceded her in death in 1941. Dot is survived by her cousins, Alice (James) Niblick, Robert (Iva) Zillmer, and Carl (Rosemary) Blechschmidt.

Dot graduated from Riley High School and was a member of the Riley Lunch Bunch. After graduation, she went to work for South Bend Tackle where she worked for thirty years until the company closed. She then worked for National Mill Supply for 19 years until she retired in 1985. Dot was a member of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church and the NOW Club at Grace United Methodist Church. She was a fantastic cookie maker, especially Christmas cookies and was a very good bowler. Dot was truly wonderful and caring person and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Services for Dot will be at 1 p.m. Monday, September 11, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend. Rev. Patrick Somers, pastor of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
