Bartley Eton Sweeny, 63, of 15763 Hamilton, Granger, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday in Osteopathic Hospital, South Bend, following an apparent heart attack. He retired from Uniroyal, Inc., in 1968, after more than 30 years of employment.

Born on July 3, 1916, in Noble County, he had lived in this area since 1929, coming from Berrien Springs.

On Oct. 25, 1937, in South Bend, he married the former Thelma Witter. She survives with a daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Thelma) Halvorsen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two sons, Terry Lee of South Bend and Terry Dean of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Nellie) Thiele of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Clinton (Ann) Cluchy of Kentwater, Mich., and Mrs. Ralph (Ethelyn) Kronmiller of Fort Wayne, and a brother, Gerald Sweany of Mishawaka.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Everett Ballard Funeral Home. Glen Hill, pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and .7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Faith for Today or Voice of Prophecy in care of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Sweeny was a World War II veteran and a member of the Uniroyal Retirees Club
