Steven Singleton - Class Of 1965 VIEW PROFILE

Steven Singleton

Singleton, Steven Patrick 3/30/1947 - 12/31/2015 Ann Arbor Steven Patrick Singleton, age 68, of 1612 Peach St., Ann Arbor, MI and formerly of South Bend, IN, died on December 31, 2015 with his partner at his side. He was born in March 30, 1947 in Gary, IN to the late Arthur J. Singleton and Maryel K. (Patrick) Singleton. He is preceded in death by his sister, Dianna Lee Singleton of Roanoke, VA in 2010. Steve's education lead to a BA and an MA in Sociology from Western Michigan University, and an MPH in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan. He later became a highly praised and talented professor and enlightened college students for decades on physical and mental health, nutrition, psychology, and substance abuse while teaching at Wayne State University, Aquinas College, the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and Henry Ford Community College. He most enjoyed tending to his spectacular garden, experiencing the splendors of nature by mountain hiking in national parks in the northwestern US and Canada, and was an avid sports fan. He was a brilliant, kind-hearted, energetic and expressive person who always made a positive impression on everyone he met. He will be forever missed by his partner, friends, neighbors, co-workers and students. He is survived by his partner of almost 30 years, John Chahine of Sylvan Lake, MI; brother-in-law Timothy Pickering of Christiansburg, VA; niece Elizabeth Pickering of Fleetwood, PA; nephew Christopher Pickering of Bear, DE; and niece Shannon Radmacher of Roanoke, VA. Friends are invited to a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2016 followed by a general gathering until 4:00 PM at the Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, MI

Sharon Lee Carney (Balboa) (1964)

Steve and I were "fast" friends while in HS.  We shared many secrets.  The last I spoke w/him, he was so very happy.  At the time we were kids, "alternate" life styles we not a part of any persons conversation.  I am so happy he had a longterm relationship and was doing what he loved.....RIP Steve.  You will always be a part of my life.
