Nancy Fenn Hoffmann, 73, of Berrien Springs, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph.

Nancy was born August 9, 1937 in South Bend, Indiana to Emil & Pauline (Fry) Fenn. She graduated from South Bend Riley High School in 1955, and from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught kindergarden in the Indianapolis School System for several years and then served as a substitute teacher. On June 25, 1961, Nancy married William R. Hoffmann in South Bend. Together they celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage. Nancy was past vice-president of the former Lakeshore Women's Club, a member and past president of the Civic Benefits Club. Nancy served various other philanthropic groups in the area, and was a long-time member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Nancy enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan, traveling, and the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.


Nancy is survived by her husband William; three daughters-Diane (Steven) Sharp of Barrington, IL, Dawn Hoffmann-Abfalter of Melbourne, FL, Paula (David) Barckholtz of Union, KY; five grandchildren; her mother Pauline Fenn of South Bend; and her brother James (Mary Ann) Fenn of West Lafayette, IN. She was preceded in death by her father Emil, and her brother David “D.W.” Fenn.
