Inez “Inie” Bridges

May 5, 1932 - July 18, 2017
MISHAWAKA - Inez “Inie” Bridges, 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.

Inie was born on May 5, 1932 in Hartford, CT as the daughter of Leo John and Gladys (Eccleston) Brewer. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dolores Dean; and daughter, Karen Ann Bridges.

On January 8, 1966 she married, George B. Bridges; he preceded her in death on December 28, 2008.

Surviving are her daughters, Kimberley S. Lipps of Mishawaka and Kathleen (Steve) Klatt of Granger; son, Kelly D. (Deborah) Bridges of Osceola; grandchildren, Jason Klatt of North Dakota and Ryan Klatt of Granger; one great-grandson, Caden Klatt of Mishawaka and sister, Betty Jane (Joseph) Kowalik of Florida.

Inie graduated from Riley High School in South Bend and attended South Bend College of Commerce. After college, she proudly went to work as a secretary for United Way charities. She was known for her cooking, especially her holiday meals; she loved gardening and canning. Inie loved bowling and golfing. For many years she was on bowling leagues at Jefferson Manor and Parkway Bowling Lanes. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame for SB-MWBA 1989 Secretary's Award for Outstanding Service. She loved her Tuesday and Thursday Golf Leagues at Robin Hood Golf Course. Inie also made a hole-in-one on hole number six at Diamond Lake Golf Course in 2002 at the age of 70. Inie enjoyed many years with her husband George, going on outings at Club 15.

The family lovingly called her “Miss Know-it-all” because she had tons of knowledge about sports and sports history. She loved to watch Notre Dame football and ladies basketball; she loved all Notre Dame sports. She also loved to watch the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs and any other sports she could find to watch. Inie was a huge sports fan.

A private family gathering to celebrate Inie's life will be held at a later date. The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Joseph County Humane Society. Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka has been entrusted with handling the final arrangements.

Inez was a resident of Indiana at the time of passing.

Inie graduated from Riley High School in South Bend and attended South Bend College of Commerce.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Joseph County Humane Society.
