Riley 1945 Beverly Ann (Harmon) Fischer

of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on the morning of Sunday July, 23rd, 2017.  

Beverly was born on December 9th 1927 in South Bend, IN to Edward and Treva (Geyer) Harmon. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. A. Alan Fischer. She is survived by her 4 children: Steven (Patricia) Fischer, Karen (Steve) Callaway, Mark Fischer, and Diane (Ronnie) Rogers; 6 grandchildren: Scott Fischer, Amy (Brady) Kappes, Bradly Fischer, Allison Rogers, Kelli Rogers, and David Rogers; and 1 great-grandchild: Henry Kappes.

Beverly attended Riley High School graduating in 1945 and Indiana University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. Beverly met her husband while at IU, and they married on August 29th, 1948.

Beverly was very engaged with her children and grandchildren's lives and was a well-known volunteer in Washington Township Indianapolis. Some of her volunteering included being the president of the North Central High School PTA and President of the Marion County Medical Society Women's Association. She was a Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader with her children. She also volunteered with Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Meals on Wheels, and People with Vision. Beverly was an active member of the Marion County Republican Party and a host family for the Indianapolis Claycourt Championship for many years. She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and was very involved with the television production of Timothy Church Mouse as both a producer and puppeteer.

Beverly was an avid sports fan, with her greatest experiences including being able to travel to watch Indiana University play in the Rose Bowl in 1968 and watching the Chicago Cubs win the World Series in 2016. In addition to watching sports Beverly loved traveling, beach combing, bird watching, cooking, and gardening. She was a pet lover, a teddy bear collector, and a very proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Visitation is open to the public and will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis on Wednesday July 26, 2017 from 4 - 6 p.m. Funeral is open to the public and will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home on Thursday July 27, 2017 at 11 a.m., internment immediately following in the mausoleum. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church Nursey School and Kids Day Out Program, 3535 Kessler Boulevard, North Drive Indianapolis, IN  46222.
