Jean (Hays) Ringgenberg

RINGGENBERG — Word has been received of the death on May 16 of Jean Hays Ringgenberg, 51, a former resident, in Tucson, Ariz., after a brief illness. She was born on Jan. 5, 1928, in New Castle, Ind., and moved to South Bend in 1934.

After graduating from Riley High School, she attended St. Mary's College. Mrs. Ringgenberg received her nursing degree from Memorial Hospital in 1950.

She then joined the Air Force nurse corps and reached the rank of major before retiring. She married her husband, Col. A.C. Ringgenberg, in Germany. He survives along with two sons, Paul Andrew and Steven Carl; two sisters, her twin, Mrs. Joann Hays Rockne of South Bend, and Mrs. Carolyn Hippensteel of Athens, Ohio, and a brother, J. Andrew Hay of New York City.
