LAKEVILLE - Lewis Quinn Ray Jr., 81, residing in Lakeville, IN, passed away peacefully in his home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007. Mr. Ray was born July 22, 1926, in Mishawaka, to Lewis Q. and Mae (Groff) Ray Sr., and had been a lifelong resident of this area. On April 10, 1948, in Denver, IN, he was united in marriage to Virginia A. Marburger, who survives. They have enjoyed 59 years together. Also surviving are three sons, Lewis Quinn (Helen) Ray III of South Bend, Ken (Ann) Ray of South Bend and John (Cindy) Ray of Granger. Three grandchildren, Kelly, Ryan and Kyle Ray survive Lewis as well as a sister, Jeanette (Dr. Charles) Morris of Dallas, TX. Mr.

Ray graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School, and entered in the United States Army during WWII in the 3rd Army in France under the leadership of General Patton. He was honorably discharged on August 18, 1946, as a corporal. Upon his discharge from the Army, he studied electronics under the GI bill. This led to his lifelong career as owner and operator of Ray's TV and Appliances for 51 years.

He retired in 2002. He attributed his success in business because he enjoyed people so much. For much of this time, his wife Virginia worked by his side at the store. He enjoyed fishing, and loved his family very much.

Services for Lewis Ray will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Lewis Q.
