Don J. "Skip" Schultheis

SOUTH BEND - Don J. (Skip) Schultheis, was born on August 24, 1927 in Mishawaka, IN. He died on March 1, 2010 in South Bend. Skip is the eldest child of C.M. Schultheis and Helen (Duffy) Schultheis. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Tom, Jim and Ley and one sister, JoRita Elliott.

He is survived by one brother, Robert and his wife, Patricia; two sisters, Terese Laughery and Catherine Taylor, and two sisters-in-law, Faye Schultheis and Geraldine Schultheis. Skip is also survived by five children, John, Castro Valley, CA, Paul, Nashville, IN, Anne Marie Heil, Malvern PA, David, Ardmore, PA and Clare, New York City, NY; four step children, William Yoder, Ozark, MO, Nancy Haubenschild, Waukasha, WI, Peggy Polk, Fort Atkinson, WI, and Kathleen Yoder also of Fort Atkinson. Skip is also survived by seven grandchildren, Emily, Margaret, Sarah, John, Caroline, William and Julian.

Skip graduated from Riley High School in 1944, and the University of Notre Dame in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps from 1945 to 1946 and the Naval Reserve from 1946 to 1954.

Skip was married to Sally Reed Bolt at Our Ladies Chapel at Notre Dame on August 21, 1953. Sally passed away on June 11, 1995. On January 11, 1997, Skip married Patricia Regan/Yoder at the Log Cabin Chapel at Notre Dame. Patty passed away on December 29, 2006. A good friend to many, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Don was a very special man who will be greatly missed.
