Riley 1967 Gregory M Miller

Aug. 9, 1949 - Oct. 29, 2016

SOUTH BEND - Gregory M. Miller, 67, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 1:25 am Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Miller; grandfather, John B. Miller; and grandparents, Joseph and Erma Kopet and Hester Faulkner Norman and Max Norman.

Gregory is lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen; and his children, Michelle (Aaron) Kelly and Christopher McNulty Miller. He will also be missed by his grandchild, Michelle's son, Colin Dodd. The bond of brotherhood will also be cherished by his two brothers, Scott (Kay) Miller and Michael Miller.

Gregory met Kathleen McNulty, the love and soul-mate of his life, at James Whitcomb Riley High School in the sophomore year of 1965. They were married on May 20, 1972 and were blessed with two beautiful children and their grandson, Colin. “Poppy” and Colin had a lasting relationship that was fun, loving and adventurous, and Colin will hold this bond in his heart for the rest of his life. Greg had an adventurous spirit as an avid sportsman. Backpacking at Isle Royale National Park was a goal achieved. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed a warm fire-pit to share with family and friends.

After graduating from James Whitcomb Riley High School in 1967, Gregory continued his education at Indiana University South Bend for two years in Business Administration. In 1991, he completed his apprenticeship for the occupation of Tool and Die Maker by the United States Department of Labor. He assisted in building the world's largest inertia welder at Adams Engineering. Greg also served in the United States Army Reserves for six years as a supply specialist with experience issuing and tracking military equipment.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2822 Corpus Christi Drive, South Bend, with Rev. Daryl Rybicki officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am until Mass time on Saturday in the church, and military honors will take place following Mass. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Gregory may be donated to Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614.
