Lois Jean Satterlee (Horvath)

Lois J (Satterlee) Horvath

February 15, 1944 ~ April 7, 2017 (age 73)

Lois J. (Satterlee) Horvath, 73,  of Osceola, IN was called home to be with her Savior at 7:45 a.m. on April 7, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones, husband Joe and puppy dog Casey Dale, after an extended illness.  She was born on February 15, 1944  in South Bend, IN to the late Richard and Arbutus (Carpenter) Satterlee.  In 1956, after the death of Arbutus, Richard married Mary (Vance) who fulfilled the role of mother preceded Lois in death.

Lois was united in marriage on December 19, 1992 to her beloved husband, Joseph L. Horvath, who survives.  Lois is also survived by her son, C. Louis (Susan) Greenwalt,  grandson, Brandon Louis, and granddaughter, Megan Kane, of Tallahassee, FL; sisters Judy Huckins of Chandler, AZ, Marcia Frost of South Bend, IN, and Ginny (Fred) Fuller of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Elsie Nemeth of Granger, IN; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her Cocker Spaniel, Casey Dale, was a constant comfort companion at her side.

In 1962 Lois graduated from Riley High School, South Bend.  She held various jobs before being employed as a Material Control Specialist at A. M. General. She then worked at the Indiana University Dental Hygiene Clinic as Office Manager until her retirement in 2011.  Lois was an active member of Osceola United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees.  She was an avid reader and loved working in her yard.

Lois was an independent, care giving, joyous spirit who embraced life.  She faced every challenge with a can-do attitude and never lost her faith.  Her witty conversations and infectious smile could brighten any day. Lois had an art of giving without recognition.  She enjoyed helping others with whatever the need might be; her heart was overwhelming.  Her love was true and her life was blessed.  Lois will be deeply missed by many.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.  Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
