Gene Lynn Arick

Gene L. Arick, age 71, of Norwalk, CT, passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Born on May 21, 1943 in South Bend, IN, he was the son of the late Donald E. and Violet G. Thompson Arick. Gene was a graduate of Riley H.S. in South Bend, IN, class of 1961. He continued his education at Western Michigan Univ. in Kalamazoo, Michigan graduating with a MBA. Gene had a successful career in Corporate finance. Gene was very active and participated in and loved many sports including beach volleyball and tennis. For the last 20 years Gene was a dedicated member and coordinator of the Oak Hills tennis group. He will be sorely missed by his tennis buddies. Gene was a lifelong hometown Notre Dame fan. In addition he loved and was a great supporter of the Yankees and Giants.
Above all Gene was devoted to his large and loving family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was the proud father of five children. Gene is survived by his children, Scott Arick (Marie), Beckalyn Hansmann (Chuck), Kristin Ciula (Kevin), Tara Knudsen (Ole), Ashley Babcock (Frank), and 13 grandchildren. In addition he is survived by his brother Duane (Shirley), sisters Janice June Mueller (Bob), Karen Mae Dentino (Gary), Rhoda Kay Arick and Lisa Ann Arick and her partner Sally Atkins. Gene is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends are invited to call Saturday, November 15th, from 10 AM - 12 PM at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street Milford, CT 06460 followed by a Prayer Service at 12pm. Burial will be held in Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gene's memory to The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or The American Lung Association.
