July 27, 1943 - July 2, 2015

Ron passed away on July 2, 2015 peacefully in his home in Antioch, CA. 


Ron was raised in South Bend, IN and graduated from Riley High School in 1961. He served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1964. He earned his Bachelor and Master Degrees from Indiana University majoring in liberal arts and education, with a minor in art. Ron worked as a teacher but is well known for his passion of art, reading and writing. He authored a book and magazine and newspaper articles. He enjoyed a prolific 40 year art career with selections in juried art shows from Michigan and Chicago to Sacramento and Antioch. His art influences included comic books, comic strips, MAD magazine and his Uncle Bill's famous Stinker character.


After remarrying in Portland, OR and moving to California in 1998, Ron eventually retired in 2004 to a life of volunteer service with the blind, gardening, bird watching, caring for his cats, working on his art, cheering for Notre Dame, playing the mouth harp and traveling with his family.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Sally, of 17 years, son, Ronald Ray Kronewitter III, step son, Greg, sister, Sherry Little, grandchildren, Anya, Noah and Mei, best friend, Bill, and many friends in the art community.

A memorial will be held in Antioch on August 16, 2015. For information send an email to rkrone@pacbell.net.
