Peggy Jo Hargrove (Rojics) - Class Of 1960 VIEW PROFILE

Peggy Jo Hargrove Rojics

November 26, 1941     ~     May 29, 2023

Peggy Jo (Hargrove) Rojics was born on November 26, 1941, in Huntsville, Alabama. In 1952, her family relocated to South Bend, Indiana and when she was 15 years old, she met the love of her life, George at her local grocery store. Peggy and George went on to marry after high school in 1960 and they lived a life of adventure, promise, and love. They moved to Mobile, Alabama in 1976, and made Jacksonville, FL their home in 1978. Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years in 2014. She is survived by her three children, Kristie Berntsen (Mark), Jeffrey Rojics (Julie) and Kerry Boggus (Stephen).


Over her life, she worked for scientists at the University of Notre Dame, various secretarial jobs, a long career at Barnett Bank of Jacksonville, Bank of America, and Jacksonville University. Her favorite career however was being “Granny” to her eight grandchildren, Joshua Berntsen (Amber), Elizabeth Rener (Daniel), Brittney Boggus (Brandon), Kayla Rojics, Jennifer Rojics, Sarah Boggus, Jake Rojics, and Samuel Rojics. She was promoted to Great-Grandmother in 2006, when Aretta Berntsen was born. Soon to follow was Jeramiah Berntsen, Jaykob Berntsen, Olivia Rener, Alyssa Monlezun and Madison Monlezun to complete her heart. Peggy is also survived by her Stepfather, Allen Coldwater, her brother, Michael Coldwater (Wendy) and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Peggy was a long-time parishioner of Resurrection Catholic Church. For many years, she was a member of the Jacksonville Outboard Club, and the Jacksonville Offshore Fishing Wives Club. She loved her time volunteering at North Florida School for Special Education, assisting her daughter during various Relay for Life events, and participating in annual Buddy Walk events to support the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville. For years you would find her at her at the beach hunting shark’s teeth, boating with family, or at her grandchildren’s various games or rowing regattas. On Saturdays in the fall, she was cheering on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Jacksonville University football teams.


The family will receive guests on Friday, June 2nd at 5pm followed by a Rosary at 6pm at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home at 940 Cesery Blvd. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 2nd at 11am at Resurrection Catholic Church at 3383 University Blvd. North. Peggy will be laid to rest at Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to North Florida School of Special Education at link below.
