Richard Carl Remenih

Richard Carl Remenih

July 7, 1942      ~     October 10, 1917

Richard was born July 7, 1942 to Victor and Josephine Remenih in South Bend, Indiana, the oldest of 4 children.

He graduated from Purdue University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. In 1965, he earned his first master’s degree, a Master’s of Science in Industrial Administration, also from Purdue University.

After joining the army, he was stationed in Oklahoma, where he met Gwen D’Agostino, whom he married and had two children, Brandi and Michael.

After their divorce, Richard followed his children to Florida, where he continued his teaching career.

He taught his son at the Canterbury School of Florida along with many other students. There he taught Math and Physics from 1984 to 1989. He had many other teaching positions throughout the years, including tutoring for the Sylvan Learning Center in Tampa from which he retired in 2012. His lifetime spent as an educator enriched his life as well as the minds of his students.

In 1993 Richard met and courted Lynda Bowes, who was the love of his life. They were inseparable. Richard then became step father to Lynda’s children, Kim and Kevin.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Victor and mother Josephine Pocervina Remenih. He is survived by his love, Lynda Bowes, their children, Brandi (John) Miliziano of Clearwater, FL, Michael (Rachel) Remenih of Marietta, GA, Kim (Vic) Torla of Orlando, FL, Kevin (DeeDee) Bowes of Key West, FL and eight incredibly smart and talented grandchildren, his brothers Randall Remenih, Robert (Mary Ann) Remenih, his sister, Nancy, and many nieces and nephews.

His pride over his grandchildren’s accomplishments was noticeable. He was one proud Grandpa of Zack, Dominic, and Giovanni Miliziano, Sophia and Anthony Torla, Julia and Liliana Remenih, and Olivia Bowes.

His love for the family led to spending his retirement years researching and publishing a family history book; a treasure and legacy for his future generations to know about their Slovenian roots.
