SOUTH BEND - Thomas L. Sult, 71, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:58 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. He was born on December 25, 1941 to the late Robert Laverne and Helen Elizabeth (Rupert) Sult in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with his parents, one sister, Margaret Ford; two brothers, Kenneth Sult and Richard Sult; and three brothers-in-law, Gordon Ford; William Bergen; and Julius Matyas also preceded him in death. Tom graduated from Riley High School in 1960. He then served his Country in the U.S. Army, where he was honorably discharged on March 4, 1970, before becoming Self-Employed in Sales and Service for many years. On June 11, 1966, he married Yolanda "Loni" Baranyai at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Yolanda "Loni" Sult of South Bend, IN; two daughters, Kelly M. Sult-Logwood (Kevin) of South Bend, IN and Kimberly M. (Drew) Crump of Savannah, GA; two sons, Thomas C. Sult of South Bend, IN and Michael C. Sult of South Bend, IN; two grandchildren, Carter R. Sult and Carson L. Sult, both of South Bend, IN; one sister, Sue Bergen of Mishawaka, IN; one brother, Robert (Joyce) Sult of Mishawaka, IN; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Sult of South Bend, IN; Evelyn Sult of South Bend, IN and Theresa Matyas of Dyer, IN; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Mr. Sult was a member of Holy Cross Parish; Knights of Columbus Council #553, where he was a 3rd degree knight; member of American Turners in South Bend, where he served as Past President; and Boy Scouts of America, where he achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Tom enjoyed bowling, playing racquetball and softball. He was an avid Chicago Bear Fan, White Sox Fan, and Notre Dame Fan. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Michael Mathews, C.S.C. officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
