SOUTH BEND - Guy F. Chapman Jr., 75, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016, in his home surrounded by his family.

Guy was born June 5, 1941, in South Bend, to the late Guy Sr. and Rosetta (Stickler) Chapman. Guy was also preceded in death by brother, Michael Chapman.

On May 18, 1991, Guy married his loving wife, Janice (Bowersox) Chapman, who survives along with sons, David (Wendy) Chapman, Darrell (Beverly) Chapman, Darrin (Melissa) Chapman; stepdaughters, Kim (Michael) Becker, Amy (Patrick) Hechlinski, Tina (Sean) Fredrick, and Trisha (Daniel) Greenlee; grandchildren, Candice, Kayla, Jacob, Corin, and Paddy Chapman, Ryan (Julia) and Joseph Hechlinski, Seth Becker, and Brianna Greenlee; great-grandson, Maddex; great-granddaughter, Blakely on the way; brother, Douglas (Madge) Chapman; sister, Cathy (Richard) Labonte; nieces, Jill and Megan; and nephew, Justin (Shara) Chapman.

Guy graduated from Riley High School and while in high school he worked at Chapman's Grocery Store and Cira's Restaurant. Guy honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1965, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from the South Bend Fire Department and Sears Automotive after 33 years of service. Guy was a member of the American Legion Post #357. He was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakeville. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan and a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, and loved 50s and 60s music and dancing. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly.

The family would like to thank Milton Adult Day Care, the Center for Hospice, Always Best Care, and the caregivers that lovingly cared for Guy. A special Thank You to our neighbors and friends for all their help.

Visitation is 11 am - 1 pm on Saturday, August 20, 2016, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Rd., with a Memorial Service to begin at 1 pm on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to Alzheimer's & Dementia Services, 922 E. Colfax, South Bend, IN 46617.
