Jessie Joseph "Butch" Whiten

SOUTH BEND - Mr. Jessie Joseph Whiten (Butch), who lived on South St. Joseph Street, South Bend, IN, passed away after a brief illness at 12:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, August 14, 2016, in the Kindred Hospital, Mishawaka, IN, at the age of 69.

Jessie Joseph (Butch) was born May 2, 1947, in South Bend, IN, to Jessie James Whiten and Vivian Eloise (Turley) Williams. Butch attended the South Bend public schools, was a graduate of Riley High School, served in the United States Air Force and worked for Monarch on Foundation Drive. Butch was outgoing but very private! Butch truly LOVED HIS FAMILY, laughing and having fun when he would join them. Butch was very sad after the loss of all his siblings; this is when he became more private to himself.

Mr. Whiten is survived by Tisha Lax, whom he natured as a small child, a special nephew, Minister Dennis (Glenda) Patton, Sr., special brother-in-law, Esaw Parker, Sr., special sister-in-law, Thelma Patton, all of South Bend, IN, sister-in-law, Charlotte Patton of Denver, CO; six other nephews, Mark & Fred Patton both of Denver, CO, Tilford Patton of Illinois, Esaw Patton, Jr., Marcus Parker and Perry (Angie) Patton all of South Bend, IN; five nieces, Robin & Bridgette Patton both of Denver, CO, Angela (Calvin) Tribble of Charlotte, North Carolina, Paula (Eric) Cannady and Thellisa Patton, a special friend, M.C. Coleman, all of South Bend, IN, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Family members who preceded him in death along with his parents include his stepfather, Eugene Williams, a sister, Belle Marie Parker, three brothers, Fred & Tilford Patton, and Joe Lee Whiten, grandparents, Rev. Luther & Belle Marie Turley, two nephews, Frederick, Jr. and Curtis Patton and a niece, Vivian Lynn Parker.
