Our beloved Helen passed away Saturday morning September 10, 2016 at Auburn Heights Senior Care Center, age 94. Helen was born the daughter of the late Floyd and Gladys (Walker) Deen May 18, 1922 in Oriole, Indiana and had resided in the South Bend, Indiana and Port Huron area most of her life before relocating to the Midland area to be closer to family. She graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana in 1939, She went on to graduate from the University of Indiana in 1943, she taught elementary education in the Dowagiac, Michigan and Port Huron, Michigan School districts, she was a violinist all her life, playing with the South Bend, Indiana Symphony, the International Symphony Orchestra in Port Huron and Sarnia, Ontario for 51 years.  She was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Port Huron, as well as an accomplished pianist, chamber music trio\quartet participant. She was a sharp, witty, educated, talented and loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, an "Angel".  Words are inadequate to describe her.

Surviving to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are a son John L. (Diane) Scott, grandchildren Andrew, Lisa, Eric, Megan, Henry, Joseph, great-grandchildren Lucas, Sam, Ben, Audrey, Abby, Addy and Madeline. Also welcoming her home are her husband, Clarence, 2 children, Michael and Jean and a brother, Leonard Deen.

Honoring Helen's wishes, cremation has already taken place. A private family memorial service was held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc.  Family and friends had an opportunity to share stories about Helen and her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the International Symphony of Port Huron in Helen's name.
