Mitchell Ray Forrest - Class Of 1969

Riley 1969 Mitchell Ray Forrest Oct. 19, 1951 - Oct. 29, 2016 SOUTH BEND - Mitchell Ray Forrest, 65, residing in South Bend, passed away at 8:52 pm Saturday, October 29, 2016, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. He was born October 19, 1951, in South Bend, to Joseph Forrest, Sr. and Marie (Anderson) Dixon. Mitch graduated from Riley High School in South Bend. He lived in California for 20 years before returning to South Bend. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, painting, cooking, listening to music and overall having a good time. Spending time with Mitch was a guaranteed comedy show. He could keep you laughing the entire day. Left to cherish his memories are Mitch's mother, Marie Dixon of San Diego, CA; children, Karen (Shawn) Emile of Los Angeles, CA, Joseph Forrest of Los Angeles, CA, and Whitney Forrest of South Bend; grandchildren, Aiden, Brooklyn and Jazmin; sisters, Barbara Forrest of Los Angeles, CA, Maxine (Michael) Alexander) of Detroit, MI, Alice Forrest of South Bend, Jana (Darnell) Bryant of San Diego, CA, Pamela (Keri) Wade of Illinois and Cheryl Anderson of Chicago, IL; and brothers, Joseph E. Forrest, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Mack Forrest of San Diego, CA, Anthony Thompson of Chicago, IL, Guy (Vanessa) Forrest of Atlanta, GA, and Eric (Hope) Forrest, also of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by an aunt, Kay Bryant of Fort Wayne, IN; and uncles, Luther (Anne) Anderson of Indianapolis, IN, and Mike and Ralph Anderson, both of Fort Wayne, IN; as well as honorary brothers and sisters, Gary Stokes, Gloria Stokes and Charles (Cynthia) Stokes. Mitch was preceded in death by his father, Joseph E. Forrest; stepmother, Peggy J. Forrest; brother, Bruce W. Forrest; aunts, Ida, Dorothy and Emma Doris; and uncles, Mack, William and Albert Forrest. Funeral services for Mitchell will be held at 12 noon Saturday, November 5, 2016, in New Horizon Outreach Ministry, 56165 Mayflower Road, South Bend. Apostle Dennis Givens will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to services on Saturday in the church.
