SOUTH BEND - Jane A. Tobey Pica, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Cumberland Pointe in West Lafayette.

Born August 19, 1937 and raised in South Bend, she spent the majority of her life there. She graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School in 1955. Her parents were Gerald and Isabelle Tobey.

She married Anthony “Tony” Pica on August 18, 1956 at Holy Family Catholic Church in South Bend.

Jane was a loving and devoted mother and wife, as she spent her adulthood caring for her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, painting, and spending time with her family at her lake cottage on Gravel Lake in Lawton, Michigan.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth “Beth” Jones (husband: John Michael, deceased) of West Lafayette, IN, Kathleen “Kathy” Box (husband: William) of Colorado Springs, CO, Anthony “Tony” Pica Jr. (wife: Lynn) of Hartford, MI, Patrick “Pat” Pica (wife: Carol) of Marcellus, MI, Anne Brummet (husband: Roger) of West Lafayette, IN, Michael Pica of Lawton, MI, Jane Johnson (husband: Michael) of Zionsville, IN, and Peter Pica (wife: Kristin) of Granger, IN. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lona Tobey and Carolyn Banulis (husband: Brent), and her brother-in-law, Peter Pica (wife: Bonnie), all of the South Bend area, and her sister-in-law, Jackie Schimmel (husband: Walt) of Daytona, FL.

Her legacy will continue to live on through her twenty-five grandchildren: Patrick, Kevin, and Maureen Jones; Andrea, Natalie (Schwenck), and Brendan Box; David, Joy, Amy (McClure), Mark, and Nicholas Pica; Ryan (deceased), Nicol (Liggins), and Chad Baker; Rachel, Rebecca and Ross Brummet, Katherine, Mary, Michael, and Andrew Johnson; and Collin, Evan, Emilia, and Clay Pica, and also through her ten great-children and those yet to be born.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Nursing Aide, Rebecca Simmons, and the Pine's Unit Nursing Staff at Cumberland Pointe, for the kindness and compassion they showed to Jane.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 11, at 11:00AM at Little Flower Catholic Church, with visitation from 9:30-11. Private burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cumberland Pointe Health Campus, 1051 Cumberland Ave., West Lafayette, IN 47906.
